This week, we have been following the children’s interest in all things piratey! We have read some fabulous pirate stories including ‘The Treasure of Pirate Frank’, ‘Penguins Make Bad Pirates’, ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and ‘The Night Pirates’.
The children were intrigued by the illustrations of pirate maps, so we spent a happy afternoon looking closely at the maps and then having a go at making our own. Our maps were suitably ‘aged’ with cold tea and coffee granules!
We used gold pirate coins in our maths this week. The children found, made and improvised various props to help them with their imaginative pirate role play.
We had great fun talking like pirates and coming up with imaginative names for pirates and ships alike.
