We can’t believe how quickly this half term has gone in Reception!
Over the past week the children have continued to learn their sounds and we have been looking at subtracting and numbers to 6 in maths. Mr Mullins kindly made us a new ‘adding machine’ for our outside area and the children have had great fun posting plastic balls down the two pipes and seeing how many emerge at the other end. The children had almost as much fun watching Mr Mullins make the machine, pulling up chairs and forming a semi-circle around him and asking pertinent questions over the practicalities.
In Forest School the children have been learning about toadstools and mushrooms. They have taken part in some fascinating ‘show and tell’ sessions using photos of toadstools they have been discovering at home and on family walks. We have also been talking about harvest and the children brought the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ to life with their acting. Their performance was wonderfully dramatic and used bags of flour, aprons and bread rolls as props.
Music, PE and French lessons have been enjoyed by all the children. Mme Newman surprised the children by bursting into the classroom dressed in a hat and cloak (and some outrageous nails!) to teach the children about Halloween in France.
The children have continued to impress us with their enthusiasm for their learning and we hope that they have a lovely half term break to recharge their batteries!
