It has been joyful to have a busy and noisy classroom this week, with children renewing friendships and revelling in the return to what they understand as normal. We made the most of the sunny weather at the start of the week to get outside and explore springtime. We observed the cherry tree in our garden and watched time-lapse footage of blossom flowering. We then used coffee filters and watercolours to create our own versions for our self-registration tree.
Of course, Sunday is a very special day and the children have been beavering away on their cards for Mother’s Day. We selected papers from giant books of wallpaper samples to use as our ‘vases’ and tissue paper to make the bouquets of flowers. The pinching, twisting and scrunching helped the children with their fine motor skills. But shhhhh! It’s a surprise!
