It is usual, at this stage in the term, for the children to start to become a bit weary. And with current circumstances, this is more true than ever, for children as well as parents. However, every day Reception children wow us with their creativity, perseverance and curiosity. They tackle every challenge with good humour and a wide smile.
This week they have explored constellations and Greek myths, decorated their own stars, made monsters and crafted junk model dragons. The finished pieces are spectacular and the children are rightly proud of their achievements. This all goes to boosting their sense of well being, so important at the moment.
One of the stories this week was ‘The Queen’s Handbag’ about a sneaky swan who swipes the monarch’s bag and travels up and down Britain on various modes of transport with the Queen in hot pursuit. The children were tasked with imagining where the bag would go and how and they would write about it. The results were lovely. Seeing the children not only progressing, but excelling in their own individual ways, is just the lift we need to keep sparking their imaginations and joy for learning.
