At the end of break the Prep department gathered on the slope to observe the two minute silence to remember and honour those who lost their lives in World War 1 and following conflicts. Children and staff then made their way to the Chapel for a Remembrance Assembly led by Mr MacKinnon. As well as the background to Armistice Day and how we remember the fallen, Mr MacKinnon also gave insight into the Old Barrow Hillians and the 1,500 Old Witleans (King Edward’s Witley Alumni) who served in the Great War.
Children processed out of Chapel to the ‘Hymn to the Fallen’ by John Williams before congregating on the drive near the flag pole to each plant a cross.
Pre-Prep also observed the silence and their Remembrance Wall contains inspiring and poignant memories of your families, thank you for sharing these with us.
Thank you to Mr MacKinnon for a wonderful, thought provoking Assembly and to Mrs Barraud and the ground staff for prepping the ground and marking out the poppy.
