Year 7 had a very interesting English lesson on Thursday when they presented their ‘save my dog!’ speeches to the class. Our GAP student Mr O’Kelly played the part of a vet who was only able to save two dogs… Which dogs would it be?
Year 7 have worked very hard this week with the support of Mrs Mason and Mrs Campbell-John, in order to write a speech using many persuasive techniques like rhetorical questions, personal pronouns, emotive language, alliteration, statistics and facts and figures. All the speeches were excellent and very moving. Mrs Campbell-John and Mrs Mason had to open a new box of tissues! Mr O’Kelly gave a special mention to Kiyo (7G), Barnaby (7G) and Tilly (7G) but the winners today were Luke (7G) and Phoebe (7G) for their emotive speeches, which were both beautifully delivered.
Well done to everyone for taking part and putting so much effort into writing such superb speeches. Thank you to Mr O’Kelly for being our vet today.
