Year 3 has been studying teeth and how to look after them. This week in science Mrs Peek decided it would be fun to see how well the children cleaned their teeth. Their science lesson was turned into an investigation as Mrs Peek insisted they learn how to conduct a proper experiment!
They learnt how to plan an investigation and most importantly how to make sure the experiment was tested fairly. The children made predictions, recorded results and then drew conclusions from their observations.
Firstly, they cleaned their teeth and were then challenged to chew a disclosing tablet. There were squeals of delight and shock at the red and blue teeth and tongues! They then re-cleaned their teeth to remove the plaque identified by the tablet. To get rid of all the colour on their teeth took quite some cleaning! By the end of the lesson the only thing still the wrong colour was the children’s tongues!
Year 3 had a super fun filled lesson and learnt loads too – the best way to learn!
