Pre-Prep have been invited to participate in our new ‘Healthy Eating Tree’. The aim is to educate children about how to eat healthily via the medium of a flourishing tree. The leaves on the tree represent the completion of different healthy eating challenges (leaf challenges).
The leaf challenges will be introduced over the coming weeks and will be supported by a ‘Leaf Challenger Poster’ explaining what the leaf challenge is and how to complete it. After each challenge is completed the children get a leaf that they can write their name on and display on the tree.
This Friday was ‘try something new’ and the children were offered a vegan beetroot risotto.
Trying new food is important, it helps us eat a wider variety of food. Eating a wider variety of food helps us to:
– have more nutrients like vitamins and minerals in our diet,
– discover new flavours that we didn’t know we liked before,
– enjoy all the different foods we might eat at lunchtime.
