Dear Parents,
The Prep English Department needs your help! Post lockdown, we are focusing on reading aloud. Our aim is to foster a love of books and reading as well as improving fluency, comprehension skills and reading accuracy. Your support would be greatly appreciated in practising this vital skill set over the Easter holidays. We would be so grateful if you could hear your child read aloud as much as possible, ideally every day for about 10 minutes. Please encourage them to record any unfamiliar words in their reading journal as this will help to develop their vocabulary. They could also discuss the story with you or talk about their impressions of different characters. Regular reading will help your child in so many ways and across all areas of the curriculum.
