On Friday 30th September, our U11 girls hockey team travelled to Rugby School to take part in the IAPS Small Schools Hockey Tournament. In the first match they played Amesbury and with plenty of shots on goal won 3-1. In the second match, they faced Hatherop Castle who gave our team some tough competition but they came away with another win of 3-2. The final match in the group stages was against Chaffyn Grove, our girls played a brilliant game and drew 2-2.
The morning results put the girls through at the top of the section so they went through to the quarter finals, taking on The Oratory. This was by far the toughest match, facing seven strong players in the opposition. Arabella (6G) our superstar goalie made many saves, however our girls ended up losing 2-0.
It was a great performance from all the girls but a special mention to Eliza (6G) for raising her game and being the most improved player of the day, and also to Phoebe (5G) who was picked out by Barrow Hills’ coaches and the umpires as being our player of the tournament.
Well done girls! Great effort.
