Congratulations to the U11 boys football team for reaching the semi-finals of the Surrey Prep School Plate Competition. 28 schools entered this competition this year. The boys played some brilliant football on the way to the semi-final where they faced Homefield. After a close first half Homefield scored some slick goals in the second half, finishing 3-0.
However, the quarter final match last week was one of the best games of football that I have had witnessed in my time at Barrow Hills. Being 3-0 down to St Andrew’s, working hard and digging deep, the boys came back to draw the game 4-4, taking it into extra time. The teams couldn’t be separated so it went to penalties. Barrow Hills scored all five penalties and St Andrews missed one, putting us through.
The teamwork, determination and courage shown by all the team was fantastic to watch. This is something all Barrow Hills athletes should aspire to.
Well done to all the team!
