Year 1 had a fantastic trip to Portchester Castle. We looked round the castle and spent time exploring the surrounding coastline and the beach.
The children loved investigating the castle with the assistance of some guide books and an extremely knowledgeable volunteer! They were bursting with energy and enthusiasm as they explored the site and they loved climbing up the staircase in the Keep. They visited the replica theatre and the Roman Museum. After lunch they walked round the curtain wall and enjoyed looking out to sea (luckily it was a clear sunny day). The highlight of the day was the opportunity to collect shells and explore the beach.
A huge thank you to Mrs Ferris, Mrs Harris and Josh (Miss Anna’s son) for all their help. Well done to all of Year 1 for their enthusiasm and super behaviour. We all agreed it was an excellent day out!
