Year 1 has had another fantastic week! The children have been so busy, enjoying live lessons and completing excellent work at home too.
In English they are having daily phonics lessons, they are learning to ‘spot the errors’ and ‘hold a sentence’. They have enjoyed learning about question marks and nouns and then discovering proper nouns. The children have also learnt weekly spellings and are all gaining confidence with their cursive script.
In maths, they have learnt about 2D and 3D shapes, patterns, ordinal numbers, left and right, counting to 20, comparing numbers, and place value. The Victorians has been a very popular topic. This week they have compared rich and poor Victorian houses. In art they have designed their own William Morris wallpaper and in science they have shared their experiences of pets and how to look after them. They also know about the different types of diets animals have. Year 1 has been learning about families in RE and this week listened to the story of ‘Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat’.
There are also some wonderful photos of everyone enjoying the snow!
“Thank you to all the parents for all their amazing support. Thank you for helping your children to complete their work and for sharing their daily progress with me.”
