Year 2 have been amazing artists this week.
Our theme for art this term is ‘Earth Art’ and the children have been learning about how indigenous people such as native Americans and Aborigines in Australia made their own paint using charcoal, ground up bones and sometimes even blood! Thankfully the children didn’t have to make their own paint, we used acrylic paint pens and the children explored the technique of painting on rocks and pebbles. We compared it to painting on paper and discussed the differences.
The children each chose a pebble and had some time to decide which sort of animal they would like it to become. They planned their design, thinking carefully about the colours and shapes they might need. As you can see, the finished results are fantastic! The pebbles are proudly on display in the classrooms and Mrs Platt has put up a beautiful display of them in the corridor. Please do stop and take a look next time you are passing.
