On Thursday, Year 2 enjoyed their Tudor Day. The children have been learning about the Tudors over the past term and it was a day to celebrate everything they have learnt but most importantly have fun!
They came dressed in their brilliant costumes and as soon as they came into the classroom, much discussion was had about their outfits. The children began the day looking at what it was like to be a Tudor; how the rich and poor lived in these times and they explored this using drama. The class acted out parts of the Tudor lifestyle including tennis, jousting and chess just to name a few. They were fantastic at this and enjoyed admiring each other’s efforts.
After the morning break we all (staff included!) learnt a Tudor dance. This involved a lot of careful listening, as well as dancing! At the end we split into two groups and performed to each other; the children were very proud of themselves.
Lunch was a delicious Tudor banquet provided by the catering team. This was held in our classroom which was very exciting in itself! In the afternoon, there were a range of activities available: creating a Tudor portrait or a Tudor house, designing their Tudor royal name and writing a letter as Henry VIII to one of his six wives.
Every child in Year 2 embraced the activities available during the day, we were very proud of them.
