On Tuesday 29th June, Year 8 arrived at school with their bikes, ready to cycle 30km to Frensham Pond and back. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, not too hot and no rain and the all children and all their bikes made it there and back in one piece!
They were split into a fast group and a ‘slower paced’ group and the two met up at several check points long the route. Interestingly there was no difference in the pace of the groups at the end of the day as the slower paced group arrived back at the same time to Barrow Hills, having set off last!
The route took the children across Mare Hill Common, Witley Common, Thursley Common and Hankley Common thus avoiding roads. Year 8 were very well behaved and hopefully enjoyed their day out. I am impressed by the few who fell, at how fast they got back on their bikes and carried on. Excellent attitude Year 8 and thank you to Mr Conway and Hettie for leading the groups and finding every check point.
