On Monday 27th June, although many were still tired from their residential, our Year 8 children were absolutely brilliant as they participated in a 20 mile bike ride to Frensham Pond and back again to Barrow Hills. We travelled across four different commons: Witley, Thursley, Hankley and Frensham and avoided the roads. The children demonstrated resilience when cycling through the sand on Hankley Common and bravery when attempting some steep hills. Sadly, we had one epic fall which made it clear why wearing a helmet is essential.
Mrs Burnett commented
“Year 8 you were a pleasure to cycle with.”
On Tuesday, the children enjoyed a slightly less physically strenuous day as they headed out on retreat. We went to The Old Farmhouse in Elstead where we met Andy from The Trinity Trust Team who helps out every year, and also our Chaplain, Reverend James. The children spent a quiet, peaceful day reflecting on their time at Barrow Hills. They discussed their achievements, friendships made and opportunities given, as well as their hopes and dreams as they venture onwards to senior school.
Mr Crisell said
“After a packed and very energetic post exam schedule, which included long days and high excitement, it was lovely just to take ourselves away and reflect in such a scenic spot.”
We wish you all the best in the next stage of your journey Year 8. You have been fantastic!
