This week, the focus in our maths lessons was time, a stand alone topic that always requires temporary fluidity of our maths sets. The children work in three groups, firstly ensuring they are able to read an analogue clock and then extending their learning to the conversion of 12-hour to 24-hour time. The children have regular refreshers of word problems related to time to ensure they have fully grasped the topic. We would appreciate any support you are able to give your child with this topic and have encouraged the children to wear their watches to school. This will keep us on our toes when it comes to the start of break and lunchtime!
PSHE continues with our topic, ‘Changing Me’, with both classes combined for a weekly open chat about what is needed to create a baby, focusing on our genes and how our bodies are changing as we grow older. The children have displayed such maturity during these lessons. Should you wish to be given any recommendations for books on this subject, to help answer any questions, do email us. We have asked the children to bring in a photo of themselves as a baby – we look forward to trying to guess who is who!
Please do ask your child to tell you all about the tooth decay investigation conducted in their science lessons – this will hopefully encourage plenty of teeth brushing from now on!
