During activities this term, some of our entrepreneurial Year 5 children have been taking part in Mr Behan’s Dragon’s Den in order to work on the following skills: creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, organisation, timekeeping, presentation, persuasion, discussion, evaluation and economics.
Working in different groups every other week, children have been tasked to pitch concepts for products that they have designed to fulfil a particular purpose. Children have not only had to design their own product and business from scratch, but have also had to understand their product is worth, know how much equity of their business they are willing to give away, and have had to be prepared to negotiate.
Some of our Year 5 children pitched for investment for a functional accessory for pets… who will come out with the best deal?
If you would like to give this a try yourself at home, please see the attached images for an example and some concepts to design a product for.
