9th September 2015
On Wednesday 9th September we joined in with the nationwide celebrations to mark the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch in British history. There was a themed lunch with sausages and mash, coronation chicken and home-made pork pie with piccalilli followed by chocolate bread and butter pudding. There was also an assembly about the monarchy, following which all the children were presented with a commemorative coin to mark this special event in our history. Thank you to the Barrow Hills Community Committee for donating the coins. A particular thank you too from the staff who were also very generously given a coin.
“I remember my school doing something similar for the Queen’s silver jubilee and I still have the commemorative coin somewhere so we feel it is important to give the current generation of children something to mark this event and treasure too”
Mr Matthew Unsworth, Headmaster
