22nd April 2016
Today we were all delighted to welcome The Right Reverend Richard Moth, Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, to Barrow Hills who got our term off to a joyous start by celebrating our St George’s Day Mass, assisted by Father Peter Newsam, the parish priest of Petworth, Midhurst and Duncton.
The visit represents the Bishop’s first visit to Barrow Hills since his ordination last May, when he was installed at Arundel Cathedral, becoming the fifth bishop of the southern English diocese that was founded in 1965.
Special thanks go to the altar boys and girl, everyone who sang and did readings during Mass and of course to the Bishop who high fived the children as they left Chapel. After Mass, our Chaplain and Headmaster escorted Bishop Richard on a private tour of the School, which included a stop at nursery.
It is of course a great honour to have Bishop Richard visit our school, and the children were thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet personally with the Bishop who leads our Diocese. We hope that Bishop Richard has taken away with him warm memories of a good Catholic school where we do our best to ensure that every child is loved, regardless of their creed, colour or denomination.”
